Interactive Mindfulness Experience

Client: Ananda Community - Yoga Studio

Ananda Community is a wellness hub that brings together local and international practitioners, offering a nurturing, introspective environment that promotes mindful movement. Their "Moving Prana" classes emphasize slow, breath-led practice that encourages participants to soften both physically and mentally at their own pace. The community fosters a strong neighborhood presence rooted in holistic wellbeing and contemplative practice.

An interactive meditation installation inspired by Ananda's "Moving Prana" flow—a breath-centered practice that awakens inner energy. The piece begins as a simple dot and evolves into flowing, organic forms that visualize the rhythm of collective breathing. Drawing inspiration from the aesthetic of traditional wooden scroll structures, the installation merges mindfulness with technology to create an immersive environment where participants experience their breath as visual art, fostering deep mind-body connection and communal presence during group meditation sessions.

Role & Contributions

  1. Creative Direction & Concept:
Developed the conceptual framework translating breath and prana flow into generative visual language.

Designed the installation to function both as ambient backdrop and interactive centerpiece, adapting to different meditation contexts.

  2. Visual & Interaction Design:
Created flowing, organic visual motifs inspired by breath patterns and the elegant simplicity of scroll aesthetics.

Developed real-time responsive visuals that morph based on collective breathing patterns, encouraging group synchronization.

  3. Technical Implementation:
Produced initial hand sketches exploring perspective views, structural details, and spatial composition.

Built 3D visualization and spatial mockups in Rhino to prototype the wooden frame geometry and projection surface.

Coded generative algorithms that extract audio waveform data and translate it into flowing visual patterns, creating direct feedback between participants' breath and the visual display

Installation details

  • Audio Input System: Captured live microphone input from the meditation space

  • Audio Analysis: Extracted amplitude, frequency, and waveform data from breathing sounds

  • Generative Visuals: Developed particle systems and organic flow algorithms that respond to breath rhythm—creating pulsing, wavelike forms
